Since 2016, Russia's TAURAS-FENIX Machinery Works has been an official partner of the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Applied Mechanics for students and cadets enrolled in technical education programmes. As part of this partnership, TAURAS-FENIX and ITMO National Research University run their own Engineering and Technology Competition for students majoring in relevant sciences.
The competition involves solving cases compiled by experts from TAURAS-FENIX’s Design Bureau. The teams received their competition assignments on 7 February. Solutions are due within two months of the competition start date.
Teams working on the projects can get consultations from the TAURAS-FENIX engineering staff and seek assistance from ITMO University professors.
All submitted projects will be rated by a panel of experts, who will then select the Competition winners based on existing assessment criteria. Once the Competition results are announced, the winning team will be awarded valuable prizes from TAURAS-FENIX JSC, as well as an internship opportunity with subsequent employment at the Design Bureau of the Russian packaging industry leader.
Project defence involves presenting new models of machinery, pitching the advantages of these designs to the jury and validating the feasibility of the methods and algorithms used to build the offered packing solutions, along with the principles followed when selecting components for the project.
The panel will assess the teams based on criteria such as the novelty of the findings, the authenticity of the scientific, design and technological solutions, and the coherence, clarity, consistency and validity shown when presenting the key points of the research.
The Engineering and Technology Competition finals will be held on 4 April 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at 9 Torfyanaya Doroga, TAURAS-FENIX Exhibition Hall.
